Where you'll stay

Holidays in the Ariège Pyrénées

You'll be based in L'Atelier d'Artiste, a converted barn next door to and attached to our old stone farmhouse in the heart of the Ariège natural park. Spacious, beautifully renovated and fantastically equipped, it sleeps one couple in true comfort ... but if you want to come with friends you can also book an adjacent (and interconnecting) cottage as an annex. It’s a secret place … no other visible houses, no passing traffic, no street lights, nothing to disturb the deep peace but birdsong and occasional cow bells in the valley below.

The barn has been restored using natural methods and eco-friendly materials, and now majors in comfort as well as slightly quirky charm and character; think real home, not holiday cottage. It’s equipped with everything you can think of, from binoculars to bread machine, shower gel to spices and more, and you can arrive on any day of the week.

L'Atelier d'Artiste is huge - 110 square metres altogether, over two floors. Downstairs is a big open plan sitting/dining room, and a kitchen designed by cooks for cooks - a perfect space for sociable and relaxed cooking, living and eating.

Upstairs is an extraordinary cathedral ceilinged space with original roof trusses and huge sliding windows to three sides: this is where you'll sleep – you’ll watch the sun come up from your bed. People love to spend time up here so there's a second sitting area here; the bathroom is up a couple of steps in the old grenier.

Outside are three private terraces and large garden, with sun loungers and parasols, various tables and chairs, and a fairy-lit covered dining barn.

This page can only give you a small taster of your Ariège holiday home: have a read of our main house website to find out much, much more!

L'Atelier d'Artiste is available only between mid-May and mid-September and usually books up very quickly once bookings are open for a given year, so if you'd like to come ... don't hang around!
